Justification: Positive social interaction, active engagement, and self-regulation is demonstrated in the Scare Crow Game.  Positive social interaction is provided through the movement activity with half of the class as scare crows and the other half as crows.  Active engagement includes engaging students imaginations and role playing while reacting to musical elements of long and short sounds.  Self-regulation of students is from appropriate role play of a scare crow or a crow and reacting to long and short sounds appropriately at their stage in development of the concept introduced.
  2. Establishes, communicates, models, and maintains standards of responsible student behavior.

        Justification:
The Kindergarten Lesson Plan for week 7 is an example of the kindergarten music routine to maximize instructional time. There are five steps in the kindergarten routine:
        1) Entry into the room: Always with music playing with steady beat exercises started as students go to their spots.
        2) Hello Song: Sets positive tone and often works on loud/soft and fast/slow.
        3) Vocal Exploration: often comprised of stories where students fill in vocal responses to aid students in discovering their head voice.
        4) Curricular Material: music to work on curricular skills and concepts, often thematic.
        5) Dismissal: Singing "who is the line leader/door holder/ready to go?"

        Justification:
Circle spots provide a physical limitation in the classroom environment to aid in defining personal space and moving around the room safely and respectfully.  The song is always used before a movement activity to establish personal space.  The use of visual and song creates a safe purposeful learning environment by defining personal space and expectations through musically engaging activities.
